When these long weekends or holidays come up, it should never stop you from your goal to stay healthy and keep to a consistent training schedule. It is always nice to take a break and enjoy a holiday or long weekend, but make sure you plan a head for it.
Monday was Labor day, so doing your workout Saturday or Sunday to give you Monday off would of been the best choice. Then you will keep your body and yourself on the right track and not take steps backward, and fall in to the "comfort zone" which we all do as it's human nature.
Commitment is a MUSCLE. Even if you're "not feeling up to it", POWER THROUGH IT. Just as with your workout, you will thank you later. =)
"Just going through the motion" Make sure you FEEL IT when you train! Don't think about just getting done, or getting it over with for the day. Your muscles, your body are smart, they know when you're faking it and when your mind is not connecting to your body. You're not really feeling each and every set, rep of the exercises you are working. Don't do it just for the sake of saying you worked out today. If your going to take that hour or more out of your day to workout then make it count. Work your body hard. Feel every bit of the pain, the burn in each set, each rep and make each one of them count. Soon you will crave that feeling you get when you push yourself, push your body to the point of no return.
If you cannot feel it due to being tired, over trained or just not into it that day, then give your body a gift of rest. Rest is good and means growth, gains for your muscles. Better workouts are ahead and after some needed rest you will be ready to "Feel it" Feel the burn, the pain and then reap the much earned benefits of the best body it can be...
