Daily Fit Tip! "Take a Break"

Working Out BettyHave you stopped losing weight or making gains in your workouts? Maybe it’s time you take a break. Research shows that weight loss often reaches a plateau around six months because your body is simply becoming too efficient. Becoming efficient is certainly a good thing – it means you’ve made fitness gains – but it also means you won’t lose weight unless you do something different. Shock those muscles!

While spicing up your routine often helps you reach new levels of fitness and weight loss, taking a well-deserved break can do the same thing. If you’ve been working out hard and seem to only be getting more tired and not losing any weight, it’s time for a break. Take a week off, but no more than that, and then kick your fitness routine back into high-gear. The shock of entering into the world of daily exercise should be enough to jump start your body and help you achieve the results you’re looking for.  


Another great thing you can try is a new form of exercise (like a weekend boot camp) for your first week back, and you’ll also cure any weight-loss boredom you may have been experiencing before. Shocking your muscles and keeping your body guessing when it comes to your daily training helps prevent your body from adapting and reaching a plateau.
